Impression of HOCC

I'm not Hocc's fan, but I like her.

My impression about Hocc is that she's young, energetic, even more, she is cute and beautiful in some pictures.

Her song is just ok, frankly speaking. I think Faye Wong's technic may be better, but I think Hocc has space to promote.

Very happy to see you all build such a forum, you love Hocc so well.
Wish you all good luck and wish Hocc better and better. ^_^

Well...I like HOCC's songs...at least those ones that I've heard so far...I think she has a different style compared to other HK singers...or any other singers for that matter. A unique feel to it...that's why I've decided to buy all her albums... my cousin must be very happy. Hahahah! B)

I'm new to HoCC but when I first heard her songs it left a "don't know how to put it" kind of feeling on me.
I still remember it was after a long day of hard work when I reached home...and that's was when I heard them..

hee ah c in my impression is someone with her own thinkings and own principles, can say she's stubborn in some extent, but that's what makes her go on right? hehehe her voice definitely is one super house~ woo be it slow or rock, she can always managed it well and her live is SUPERB!

I think Ah C's voice and music style is quite unique, plus her jamming on the electric guitar is very "ying"! Totally agree with CaoGu, her live singing is awesome! She has that kinda stage presence. Hopefully we'll get to see her perform live again at her own concert hehe ;)

I love her personality. She has her own way of presenting herself. When I first saw her I thought that she was very different from thr other singers i listen to. She has her own image, which is what I love about her, she never tries to follow what the trend is.

is it just me or does anyone else think she takes too loud a breath when singing?
I seem to notice that more and more lately.
Not that I know much about singing techniques...but I don't think it's supposed to be such loud breaths...

Ermmm... Can hear her breath but I never felt it was too loud geh..
And I am no expert in singing either, so, I don't know whether it is right to hear breathing sounds or not... :rolleyes:

I didn't quite notice any loud breaths from the CDs. I think she takes loud breaths when she gets emotional singing live but tries to carry on.. like when singing songs like Yu Mo Yi Ngoi.

i noticed it more in the recent CDs - songs like Happy Ending and 'Yu Mo Yi Ngoi'... still love these two songs, just that the loud breaths seem a bit obtrusive. But that's just me.

Oh, have any of you guys seen the JSG openings where she sings with her guest host? She sounds so good! Hahahaha!

Actually I think the breathing thing is fine.. I've noticed some singers jus take deeper/ more obvious breaths when singing..

I think sometimes it's gotta do with the song too.. heh

Sometimes loud breaths are obvious because the background music is too soft... Songs like "Happy Ending", 我找到了，如無意外 etc... all have soft piano accompaniment, so....

I think someone did ask Ah C before about loud breaths in some of her songs... she said those could be separated out after the song is recorded, but she chose not to do it (there's no point of doing that to avoid people criticizing on that).

I think some of her loud breathes are deliberate...kind of adds to the emotions of the songs sometimes...

I like hocc because of her great voice, talent and songs, and also because of her attitude to music...her sincerity and dedication to only doing the music she wants to do rather than make life easy by comforming to the hk cantopop culture. Her appreciation of her fans is also a bonus!

Occasional loud breathing is okay but it seems that she does it during every break... becomes quite irritating at times. It isnt so bad when she sing those fast or rock tunes coz the music's loud.

I would think it has to do with her singing technique. Perhaps, lacking in lung power...

Erm... Lacking in lung power? Then you've got to watch her performance in the 1996 New Talent Singing Contest when she sang the song Sai Hei with the "Duk geh Duk geh Duk geh..."
That was an amazing feat that only someone with huge lung capacity could do

Dunno about that but I have clips of her live performances...it seems that she does falters at times. No big deal.

I just did a sing along session with her latest songs...giving her the benefit of a doubt, it's either she got nose block or her technique needs honing. :) 0:)

Very happy to know you. I'm a new fan of Hocc. Actually, I have been listen to her songs for awhile but wasn't her real fan. At first, I just listen to whatever it's good so I don't really have any of my favorite singer. But, one incident that make me want to become her fan. I actually begin to admire her more and more and want to be her fan forever.
Also her personality attractive me the most. She is totally herself, which I can see the real her. Most artists, not all, are kinda fake to me. Or maybe it's just me that have that feeling but Hocc didn't give me that kind of feeling.
Her singing allow me to heard her effort and her hard work. Plus she always sing with her heart.
