Denise Ho (何韻詩) and girlgroup HotCha were in rehearsals yesterday, preparing for the Neway Shall We... Concert that will take place on 28 December.
During the meeting with the press, HotCha presented Denise with a gift of a towel and a pair of trainers and the group explained that the towel was especially for Denise to wipe her sweat after dancing. Denise said that she felt that HotCha were like her daughters and when asked if she was old enough to be their mother, Denise pointed out that she was not.
Asked if she feels any pressure from the dancers in the group, Denise said confidently: "I am an elder that has a dance background, so I do not feel any pressure."
Christmas is usually a peak time for artistes who take advantage to make more money, but for Denise, she is usually very free during this time and does not have much work, so she usually spends the time partying with her friends. However, this year will be a little different and she laughed: "This year I will not have time to party because I have finally broken my record and got some work over Christmas." Asked if her fee was too expensive, so people did not offer her work, she smiled that only now that her fee has gone up do people offer her work.
Denise described herself as "mildly sadistic" when it comes to organising parties and explained that she will often think of some really cruel games to play on her friends. On one occasion, a forfeit was to eat a whole loaf of bread and she succumbed to the joke herself once when she had to drink 2 litres of soda that made her very sick. When reporters asked if she buys gifts for her friends, she admitted that she has not bought gifts for the last ten years and has given cash instead. She also asked her fans not to buy her any presents for Christmas and save the money for themselves instead.
Asked if she will invite her good friend Joey Yung (容祖兒) to her parties, Denise said: "I daren't invite her because I am afraid she will stand me up. Usually the more famous singers will be busy, but this year I am busy too, so maybe I am famous now!"
The concert will also star Stephanie Cheng (鄭融), Jan Lamb (林海峰) and Ivana Wong (王菀之).
